New podium finish for Cazenave & Police in Magny Cours
30 May 2009
The Corvette C5R of Laurent Cazenave and Jean Claude Police scored another podium finish in the 3rd round of the FFSA GT Championship.
The first race on Saturday brought a 4th place for the team, which is an excellent result considering the 120kg of ballast the car needed to carry following the victory in Dijon. Police could hold of a charge of Larbre's Saleen until 2 laps before the end.
With the ballast decreased to 40kg on Sunday and an excellent tire strategy, the C5R proved to be the fastest car in the field. Starting from sixth, Police and Cazenave brought the car home in 3rd place. Chances of victory were spoiled when Cazenave received a drive-trough penalty for a coming together with Groppi.
The second race was won by the DKR C6R driven by Eric Debard and Olivier Panis. Cazenave and Police maintain their 2nd place in the driver standings.
2nd place for PK-Carsport in Adria
17 May 2009
In the traditional FIA GT night race in Adria, Italy, PK-Carsport brought home a 2nd place with their Corvette C6R. Starting from 5th position, the team was able to move up to 2nd position during the first pitstop and maintain that position to the end of the race.
PK-Carsport is now 3rd in the team championship standings while Anthony Kumpen and Mike Hezemans are 2nd in the driver standings. Next race will take place in Oschersleben, Germany.
Victory and 2nd place for Cazenave and Police in Dijon moves DKR up to 2nd in Championship
11 May 2009
The 3rd and 4th round of the FFSA GT Championship saw the DKR Corvette C5R of Laurent Cazenave and Jean Claude Police take a deserved victory in the first race and a surprise second place in the next one.
The DKR C6R driven by Eric Debard and Kurt Mollekens (replacing Olivier Panis) took pole position for both races, while the C6R qualified 2nd and third respectively. Police could take the lead quite early in the first race and never gave it away. Mollekens brought the C6R in 2nd making it a 1-2 for the team.
Although the C5R was penalized with 80kg following its victory in the previous race, Cazenave and Police were able to score a surprising 2nd place in the 4th championship race. They were helped a bit by the fact that Mollekens, then in 2nd place, was hit by the Saleen.
This result means that Police and Cazenave now find themselves 2nd in the driver standings, while DKR takes the lead in the team's championship. It also means that in the next race in Magny Cours, the C5R will carry a ballast of 120kg!
4th place for PK-Carsport C6R in Silverstone FIA GT Round 1
4 May 2009
The first round of this year's FIA GT Championship resulted in a fourth place for Anthony Kumpen and Mike Hezemans in the PK-Carsport Corvette C6R. Starting from fourth position the team was in a constant battle with the C6R of Alphand Adventures driven by Moreau and Maassen.
The race was eventually won by the K+K Saleen of Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp.
First 2009 podium finish is a fact...
15 April 2009
The first race of the FFSA French GT Championship in Nogaro brought 2 podiumfinishes for DKR Engineering.
The Corvette C5R of Laurent Cazenave and Jean-Claude Police took pole position for the first race. Police took an early lead just until the pitstop. A starting problem dropped the car back to 4th just behind 5 times World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb. Halfway his stint Cazenave was able to pas Loeb's Ferrari and finish in third position. The DKR C6R of Olivier Panis and Eric Debard finished 4th.
Cazenave started the 2nd race in 2nd position, a position he was able to hold until just before the pitstops. A backmarker collided with the C5R and half a minute was lost. Police took over after the pitstop and after an impressive second stint he was able to fight himself back to 4th position. Meanwhile, the C6R of Panis/Debard was able to finish in 3rd position.
Racing program 2009
28 March 2009
This year I will be active in 2 championships with 2 different teams. With my regular team PK-Carsport I will do the FIA GT Championship again. Their Saleen S7R has been replaced by a Corvette C6R which will be driven by Mike Hezemans and Anthony Kumpen.
With DKR Engineering, a Belgian team based in Gemmenich, I will work as an engineer in the French GT Championship. The team enters a Corvette C6R for ex-F1 driver Olivier Panis and Eric Debard and a Corvette C5R for Jean-Claude Police and Laurent Cazenave. The C5R is actually the car that was run in FIA GT by PK-Carsport from 2005 to 2007.

TECHNICAL - Version 2 of Shock Speed histogram spreadsheet
16 January 2009
I've put a new version online of the shock speed histogram spreadsheet. The first version proved to be a popular download so I decided to bring it 'up to date'.
The biggest improvement of the spreadsheet is the integration of 'box plots'. These graphs give the user a better visual impression of the shock speed distribution which makes it easier to define the areas where shock tuning is necessary.
Further there are now 4 reports being generated:
-
Shock speed statistics report
-
Shock speed histogram report
-
Shock speed histogram comparison between 2 configurations
-
Shock speed box plot comparison between 2 configurations
The spreadsheet offers the possibility to import shock speed data from any data acquisition system capable of exporting to .csv format.
Version 2 of the shock speed histogram spreadsheet can be downloaded here. An update of the manual will be put online very soon with a more detailed explanation on the use of shock speed box plots. The current version of the manual can be downloaded here.

That last lap in San Luis...

Here's another video clip of the last 2008 FIA GT race in Argentina. This one shows the last lap and this time with English comments...
Saleen project ends with victory in Argentina!
24 November 2008
On the brand new Argentine track at Potrero de los Funes, San Luis PK-Carsport scored a very contested victory with their Saleen S7R. Starting from 5th, the team was able to move up into third position after the first round of pitstops. Kumpen moved into second past the #6 Phoenix Corvette shortly before the 2nd pitstop but lost that position again as this car was on another strategy.
This then became the fight for the lead as the leading #5 Corvette crashed out of the race. Longin was able to pass Hezemans with only 4 laps to go and the 2 cars battled it out right up to the finish line.
The result enabled the team to move up in the final championship standings to a fine 6th position.
The following video is Bert Longin's qualifying lap, synchronized with the data recorded by the Motec data logging system.
The following 2 videos are a summary of the race (with spanish commentary).
